Clean, efficient heating with the BUS grant

Air source heat pumps extract heat from outdoor air to heat your home and hot water — even in temperatures as low as -20°C. Up to 350% more efficient than a gas boiler, with government grants available to make the switch affordable.

As a Mitsubishi Ecodan approved installer, we handle everything from survey to grant application via our MCS umbrella partner HPIN Direct.

Grant update: The standard BUS grant is £7,500 for most properties. Homes heated by oil or LPG can claim £9,000 from 21 July 2026 until 31 March 2027. We confirm your grant amount during the free survey.

Why we install Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pumps

Mitsubishi Ecodan is one of the UK's most trusted air source heat pump ranges — renowned for reliability, quiet operation and exceptional cold-climate performance. As an approved installer, we are trained directly by Mitsubishi and backed by full manufacturer support on every installation.

Which size heat pump do you need?

Size is determined by a heat loss calculation based on your property. We always survey before recommending a system.

We handle it all — 5 simple steps

1
Free survey
We visit your property, carry out a heat loss calculation and confirm your BUS grant eligibility and amount.
2
Grant applied via HPIN Direct
We apply for your BUS voucher via HPIN Direct — our MCS umbrella partner — before work begins.
3
Voucher approved by Ofgem
Ofgem issue the voucher within 2–6 weeks. We track it and keep you updated.
4
Installation day
Your Mitsubishi Ecodan is installed, commissioned and fully handed over with all documentation.

Grant deducted from your bill
We claim the grant directly from Ofgem. Your final invoice already has it deducted.
About HPIN Direct: We install heat pumps under the MCS umbrella of HPIN Direct, a fully MCS-certified organisation. This means every heat pump we install is MCS-compliant and fully eligible for the BUS grant, while our own MCS registration progresses under the MCS:2025 framework.

Is your home suited to a heat pump?

Well suited properties

  • Well-insulated homes (loft and cavity wall insulation)
  • Properties with underfloor heating
  • Homes replacing oil, LPG or electric heating
  • Detached or semi-detached with outdoor space
  • New builds and extensions
  • Homes with or without existing solar PV

Things to consider first

  • Older properties may benefit from insulation improvements first
  • Some radiators may need upgrading to larger sizes
  • Listed buildings may need planning consent
  • Running costs depend on property insulation quality
  • A full heat loss survey is always needed to confirm suitability

Air source heat pump questions

Will a heat pump work in a Welsh winter?
Yes — Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pumps are designed to operate efficiently down to -20°C. South Wales has a mild maritime climate which is actually ideal for heat pump performance. The Ecodan range maintains strong efficiency even during the coldest Welsh winters.
Can I keep my existing radiators?
Possibly. Heat pumps work at lower temperatures than gas boilers (typically 45–55°C vs 70–80°C for gas). We carry out room-by-room heat loss calculations during the survey and will tell you exactly which radiators, if any, need upgrading.
How noisy is a Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pump?
Very quiet — typically 40–47 dB at one metre, similar to a quiet conversation. At the property boundary they are usually inaudible above background noise. We always position units carefully to minimise impact on neighbours.
Do I need planning permission?
In most cases, air source heat pumps are permitted development — no planning permission needed. Listed buildings and conservation area properties may require consent. We check all planning requirements during the survey.
Can I combine a heat pump with solar panels?
Absolutely — combining solar PV with a heat pump is one of the most effective home energy strategies. Your solar electricity can power your heat pump at much lower cost. Add battery storage and you can run your heat pump largely on free solar energy.
What is the £9,000 grant and who qualifies?
The £9,000 grant is a temporary uplift to the standard £7,500 BUS grant, available to homes currently heated by oil or LPG (off the gas grid). It is available from 21 July 2026 until 31 March 2027. Homes with gas boilers continue to receive the standard £7,500 grant.
