Clean, efficient heating with the BUS grant

Air source heat pumps extract heat from outdoor air to heat your home and hot water — even in temperatures as low as -20°C. Up to 350% more efficient than a gas boiler, with government grants available to make the switch affordable.

As a Mitsubishi Ecodan approved installer, we handle everything from survey through to installation. For eligible installations, the MCS documentation and Boiler Upgrade Scheme application are managed by our partner Heat Pump Go.

Grant update: The standard BUS grant is £7,500 for most properties. Homes heated by oil or LPG can claim £9,000 from 21 July 2026 until 31 March 2027. We confirm your grant amount during the free survey.

Free survey
We visit your property, carry out a heat loss calculation and confirm your BUS grant eligibility and amount.

Grant applied via Heat Pump Go
If your property is eligible, Heat Pump Go — our MCS certification partner — submits the BUS voucher application before work begins.

Voucher approved by Ofgem
Ofgem issue the voucher within 2–6 weeks. We track it and keep you updated.

Installation day
Your Mitsubishi Ecodan is installed, commissioned and fully handed over with all documentation.

Grant deducted from your bill
We claim the grant directly from Ofgem. Your final invoice already has it deducted.
MCS certification and Boiler Upgrade Scheme support: We work in partnership with Heat Pump Go (MCS No. NIC5903) under a signed agreement. For eligible heat pump installations covered by that agreement, Heat Pump Go manages the MCS documentation and submits the Boiler Upgrade Scheme application. Eco Care Solutions is not currently MCS certified — we were previously certified and are applying again. Certification and grant funding remain subject to scheme requirements and project eligibility, which we confirm with you before any work begins.

FAQs

Air source heat pump questions

Yes — Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pumps are designed to operate efficiently down to -20°C. South Wales has a mild maritime climate which is actually ideal for heat pump performance. The Ecodan range maintains strong efficiency even during the coldest Welsh winters.
Possibly. Heat pumps work at lower temperatures than gas boilers (typically 45–55°C vs 70–80°C for gas). We carry out room-by-room heat loss calculations during the survey and will tell you exactly which radiators, if any, need upgrading.
Very quiet — typically 40–47 dB at one metre, similar to a quiet conversation. At the property boundary they are usually inaudible above background noise. We always position units carefully to minimise impact on neighbours.
In most cases, air source heat pumps are permitted development — no planning permission needed. Listed buildings and conservation area properties may require consent. We check all planning requirements during the survey.
Absolutely — combining solar PV with a heat pump is one of the most effective home energy strategies. Your solar electricity can power your heat pump at much lower cost. Add battery storage and you can run your heat pump largely on free solar energy.
The £9,000 grant is a temporary uplift to the standard £7,500 BUS grant, available to homes currently heated by oil or LPG (off the gas grid). It is available from 21 July 2026 until 31 March 2027. Homes with gas boilers continue to receive the standard £7,500 grant.
