Ground source heat pumps extract heat stored naturally in the ground and convert it into reliable, low-carbon heating and hot water. With a stable ground temperature of 10–12°C year-round, they deliver outstanding efficiency in all seasons.
The BUS grant applies to ground source heat pumps — £7,500 standard, or £9,000 for oil/LPG off-grid homes from 21 July 2026.
The right type depends on your available land. We assess both during your free survey.
Pipes in shallow trenches (1.2–2m deep) across your garden. More affordable but requires larger land area — roughly 2–3× your home's floor area. Best for rural properties with open garden space.
Pipes in deep boreholes (80–200m). Requires very little surface area — ideal for smaller plots where horizontal trenches are not feasible. Higher performance and longer life.
